Huskies Rout Sanderson 13-3 Behind a Dominant Home Performance
The Heritage Huskies kept the momentum rolling Wednesday night, taking care of business at home against Sanderson (Raleigh) 13-3 in a non-conference matchup that was never really in doubt. The Huskies scored three in the third, two more in the fourth, and put it away with an eight-run sixth inning that left no question about who owned the diamond.
It was the kind of win that builds confidence going into the meat of conference season — efficient, clean, and led by the guys who have been carrying this team all year.
Senior Leighton Cash has been the story of the Heritage lineup in 2026, and Wednesday was no different. Cash went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and his season numbers are turning heads — a .473 batting average and a 1.036 slugging percentage that leads the team by a wide margin. He is the guy opposing pitchers don't want to see with runners on base.
Sophomore Alex Ruiz quietly had one of the best nights at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Junior Grant Hackemack added two hits and two RBIs of his own. Senior Sean Neumann was a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBIs off the bench. It was a balanced attack that spread the damage across the lineup.
Star of the Game: Sr. Leighton Cash — 2-for-3, R, RBI · Season avg. .473 · Slugging 1.036
Heritage improves to 25-26 on the season and continues to show the kind of late-season form that makes playoff runs happen. Next time you see these kids around the neighborhood, tell them Stonegate is proud of them. Go Huskies.
